WHY DO I NEED A DOSSIER?
Before we answer this question, we need to understand how employers look at candidates. Leading companies consider their employees their single most important asset. Their people are their competitive edge. The United States Olympic Men's Basketball Team is not called "The Dream Team" because of their superior coaching! This is why professional sports teams invest so much time and effort into their recruiting process. Talent Point's clients have hired us because they recognize the importance of hiring "The Right Person."
The more informed a Hiring Manager becomes, the better their odds become in selecting the right person. The Right Angle is more taxing on the candidate, but it is the only way Talent Point can accurately screen candidates for a specific opportunity. At that point the dossier becomes a business case documenting the capabilities of the candidate and match against the position profile. At this stage, it is intended to a very compelling agruement promoting you as "The Right Person" for that specific opportunity.
The dossier is also a tool for you to evaluate how you are perceived by others. When reading your dossier content, is it telling the story you want it to tell? If not, what do you have to do to change that story? Your dossier should show that you've got a plan for your career and that you are executing against that plan. This story will be very compelling for employers that are considering professionals with your skills.
